I was in the process of sculpting a beautiful young model. I had pretty much captured the models gorgeuous figure and had just started on the head, when the Taleban blew up the huge and ancient rock carved figure of Buddha in Afghanistan's Bamiyan mountain.

The spirit of the Buddha had just been released from thousands of years of being locked in the rocke.

On an impulse I abandoned the models head and knew that I had to capture the essence of Buddha in this sculpting.
